Beautifying Bond Street

Terry Starkey and Sharon Cook have set up their own salon offering beauty, holistic and massage treatments for both male and female clients. Beauticology provides a tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle with a range of treatments on offer from manicures and facials to an array of relaxing body massages and hair removal services.
Terry and Sharon met whilst on a Beauty Therapy course at Blackpool and Fylde College where they both realised that they shared a dream to open their own salon.
Sharon had previously worked at the Gazette before becoming a full-time foster mum to four children, alongside her own two children. She has subsequently become legal guardian to the foster children. Sharon then decided to make a bold move to retrain as a beautician.
Business partner Terry is a mum of two and has had a diverse number of jobs including working as a driving instructor before qualifying as a level 3 Beauty Therapist.
Cllr Mark Smith, Blackpool Council’s Cabinet Member for Business and Economic Development said: “It’s fantastic to see that these two entrepreneurs have bonded over a shared passion in beauty and turned this into a new business venture thanks to our professional help.
“Beauticology is another example of the quality new businesses that are helping the regeneration of Bond Street. We are really keen to work with businesses in the South Shore area to make this into a thriving shopping area for residents and visitors alike.
“90% of the businesses that Get Started has helped in the last year are still operating and in some cases, doing very well indeed. That’s because businesses can still benefit from our expert advice and support even after they are up and running.”
Both Terry and Sharon will shortly be taking advantage of the Get Started autumn speciality courses which commence in September.
The salon is open six days a week including late night opening on Wednesday and Thursday to 8pm. Contact the salon on 01253 428262.
